SUMMARY
Sells products to manufacturers and industrial establishments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Main objective - Responsible for establishing new business on an ongoing basis.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from direct mail responses, aged leads, business directories, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or opportunity to review their requirements.
Quotes prices and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own mill lead-time and delivery schedules.
Prepares reports of business transactions and expense accounts.
Works with Customer Service Representative to keep account up to date.
Tracks stock levels.
Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Arts Degree or equivalent; five to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribe style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as,
Fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graph, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
